Earlier this year, Optical Engineering Magagazine (a publication of The Society of Photo-Optical Instrumentation Engineers) published Bud's biography. As a Founder and Fellow of SPIE, the article noted his work with Douglas Aircraft Company and other accomplishments.

In April 2001, the Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons honored William with the "Pioneer in Endoscopy" award. This award recognized his "long-term scientific and technological contribution to the field of surgical endoscopy." Congratulations!!
