2004 TekBot Triathlon
| The 2004 TekBot Triathlon will be held in conjunction with the 2004 Engineering Expo. This event will showcase many student innovations. Students will be able to show off their engineering abilities as well as artistic ability.
Date & Time: May 5, 2004; 9-4pm
Location: Owen Hall
Students will be competing in three events; the Artistic Challenge, an Innovation Contest, and an Agility Race.

Artistic Challenge
In this event, the general public will be able to judge the appearance of each TekBot. Each member of the general public will be allowed to vote on their favorite 10 TekBots. At the end of the event the scores will be tallied and the top scores win.

Innovation Contest
Innovation is at the heart of engineering. In this event, students will get to show off their own innovations. Innovations can range from mechanical to electrical, anything goes. Student who compete in this event need to make a small display board that explains the innovation. These entries will be judged by faculty and staff of both Mechanical and Electrical Engineering. Scoring for the event will be based on creativity, execution, and complexity. |

Agility Race
For this event, one or two students will enter their TekBots to find two Datapods in a maze. Each team will be allowed to run the race once, with the shortest time to winning being the winner.
- Rules -
1. Each team will be allowed 4 minutes maximum for the race.
2. Each entry must be at least 50% TekBot.
3. Robots may be remote controlled wirelessly, but a 45 second time penalty will be added to the final time.
4. Robots may be remote controlled with a wired remote, but a 1:30 minute time penalty will be added to the final time.
5. Judges decisions are final.
6. Entries will start in the same location in the lower right of the figure below.
7. If two TekBots are entered then when one comes in contact with a datapod, it and the datapod will be removed from the arena leaving the other TekBot to finish the event. If there is only a single TekBot in the race, only the datapod will be removed and the TekBot allowed to continue its search.
- Arena -
1. The arena is composed of two 4' x 4' arenas with an interconnecting bridge.
2. There will be a line drawn on the maze surface as shown in the figure.
3. The red internal walls will be weighted on the bottom but movable.
4. The Datapods will emit a bright white light in all directions.
