I got his email today, you can also see my response.

I have been playing with my wunderboard all week and I can’t get my transfer lights to start flashing. This there some trick to enabling your usb transfer or is it all in the register configuration. The TA’s looked over my setup during lab and said it looked correct. Any tips would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Kai

Kai,
To get the lights to flash, three conditions need to be met.

1. The system needs to be connected to the PC/Mac using the Communications port, not the programming port.
2. The System needs to have a terminal program open and connected to the com port that appears when the Wunderboard is plugged in.
3. You need to be repeatedly sending data to the PC from the wunderboard (you initialized the wunderboard and are transmitting bytes)

After a little code modification I am able to send both a single byte repeatedly or a whole string repeatedly. The lab called for a function that would return if the port wasn't ready to send information; I had to add in a few lines to force my program to wait until the port was ready or else No signal at all would go through. My termite terminal program on windows 7 picks up the feed so I can read it on my PC without any problems. For some reason I still don't have any flashing lights. This doesn't really bother me too much since the information is getting through.

Thanks for your reply,
Kai Jenkins-Rathbun

I'm also not getting any blinking light when connected to serial. I get a display in termite in windows 7, as well as getting a display in linux (Ubuntu 12.04) using cutecom, but I do not get a blinking light.

I am as well not getting a serial transfer led light, though I am getting output into putty via serial.

I think it may have to do with the version of wunderboard. Kai and I already confirmed that we both have the same wunderboard, the newer one with the microphone gain. Coreyg, is yours the same?

Yes, I should have mentioned that I have the newer revision board.

After talking with Don today during offic hours, it seems the new Wunderboard revision has the transmit led on backwards, meaning it won't light up as previously indicated.
