Industry Connection: Programs for Industry

Senior Design

Senior Design class web pages:

What is Senior Design?
Our goal is to seamlessly facilitate the student's transition from OSU to the engineering profession. All Electrical and Computer Engineering B.S. graduates complete a one-year course sequence called "Senior Design" that provides a comprehensive industrial design experience. As part of this course, students learn vital "soft skills" (e.g. project management, documentation, etc.) as they design, build and test a product for their sponsor.

Corporate Sponsorship
To sponsor a project donate $3500 to our School through the OSU Foundation. Your contribution will help cover some basic costs and support infrastructure, including a dedicated lab for this course.

Course Organization
Senior Design is organized much like a new product introduction cycle:
Concept Phase Product Phase Development Plan Design Prototype/Manufacture Test/Validate Documentation

Project Scope
The scope of the projects is usually similar to what you would assign one full-time summer intern. Ideally projects represent a complete system or product, integrating analysis, simulation, and software and hardware design as appropriate.

Team Assignment
Approximately four students are assigned to a team. Teams are then matched up with projects that best fit their interests and backgrounds.

Sponsorship Process
May - September:
Project Definition

  • Notify Corporate Relations if you plan to sponsor a project
