Apple computer running Macintosh OS X version 10.3 (Panther) or 10.4 (Tiger)
Attached to the EECS network or OSU_Access wireless network
Have an OSU EECS computing account
Instructions:
Open: Apple Menu -> System Preferences
Under Hardware select Print & Fax:
Next:
If using OS X 10.3 Panther, select Printing and select Set Up Printers.
If using OS X 10.4 Tiger, click the Add Printer button, as shown below.
If using OS X 10.3 Panther, hold down the Alt/Option key on your keyboard and click Add in the Printer List window (continue to hold Alt/Option until the Add Printer sheet opens). +
If using OS X 10.4 Tiger, hold down the Alt/Option key on your keyboard and click More Printers in the Printer Browser window (continue to hold Alt/Option until the Add Printer sheet appears):
In the top pull-down menu, choose Advanced.
In the Device pull-down menu, choose Windows Printer via SAMBA.
Note: You will need the printer name and printer model to proceed.
In Device Name, give the printer a name
example: if you are adding the KEC 1130 Laser, you might want to type kec1130 laser, but this name can be whatever you want.
In Device URL, type: smb://eecs\username:password@aurora.eecs.oregonstate.edu/printername
where username is your OSU EECS Windows Username, password is your OSU EECS Windows Password [1], and printername is the name of the printer [2].
An example string for this is: smb://eecs\joker:jokerpassword@aurora.eecs.oregonstate.edu/kec1130
In the Model pull-down menu, choose the driver for that printer.
Click Add and close Print Center.
Note: In versions of OS X prior to 10.4 Tiger, you may need to restart your computer for the changes to take effect.
