Student Sustainability Initiative Accepting Grant Applications for Student Projects

The Student Sustainability Initiative is now accepting grant applications for student projects pursued during the 2011-2012 school year. There is $26,000 available in grants this year, and a single project may apply for up to $6,000 dollars. Projects that improve sustainability, benefit OSU students, and support student efforts to create a sustainable community at OSU through opportunity, education, and action are more likely to be funded. Applications are due November 20, 2011. Details

Vestas Winnovation Challenge 2012

Vestas, the world leader in wind energy solutions, is challenging Master’s degree students within engineering to come up with ideas that could impact our clients around the globe and the world’s wind energy market. If your concept is selected, we’ll fly you out to Denmark on an all-expenses-paid trip, where you’ll present your idea to top Vestas executives. In the competition, you will get to compete with the best minds from Europe, Asia and USA, for a chance to win airline tickets for a trip around the world. The deadline for submission of preliminary cases is Friday the 18th of November 2011. Details

Over the course of her working life, a woman will earn roughly $1 million less than a man...simply because she is a woman. Start Smart is an interactive workshop designed to give college women the confidence and skills they need to earn fair compensation. Applications are invited for a tenure-track position in Electrical Engineering at the University of Rhode Island at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning in Fall 2012. Candidates are required to have a strong background in the one or more of the traditional EE fields of: electromagnetics, circuits and systems, communications and control, micro-electronics and electronic devices, and signal processing; preference will be given to candidates with research interest/experience in the intersection of these fields with sensors and instrumentation.
