OSU names Sandra Woods dean of College of Engineering

Sandra Woods, a former Oregon State University environmental engineer who has led the engineering program at Colorado State University for the past seven years, has been named dean of the OSU College of Engineering. Life@OSU

SCHOLARSHIPS/FELLOWSHIPS

The National Research Council of the National Academies sponsors a number of awards for graduate, postdoctoral and senior researchers at participating federal laboratories and affiliated institutions. These awards include generous stipends ranging from $42,000 - $75,000 per year for recent Ph.D. recipients, and higher for additional experience. Graduate entry level stipends begin at $30,000. These awards provide the opportunity for recipients to do independent research in some of the best-equipped and staffed laboratories in the U.S. Research opportunities are open to U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and for some of the laboratories, foreign nationals. System Validation Intern, Intel. Intel Intelligent Systems Validation Team in Oregon is looking for a highly motivated Intern who will have the opportunity to drive validation upstream across multiple environments from pre-silicon, emulation, and post silicon for leading-edge SOC, Processor, and Chipset products. In this position, your responsibilities will include but not be limited to: being a team member in a group of highly motivated technical engineers performing system validation (SV) activities on new technologies; working across many functions including silicon/validation architecture, pre-silicon validation, emulation, post-si validation, tools, and HW platforms; working closely with HW teams to develop the next-generation of post-si validation and emulation platforms; developing and executing tests to discover and help to resolve functional issues within the silicon to assure that Intel ships the highest quality products; engaging with the product development teams very early in the design cycle to read and review design documents, and then specifying, generating, and executing tests for new silicon designs. R&D Engineering Student Intern, Hewlett-Packard. The Sensing Systems R&D Lab in Corvallis, OR is looking to host engineering interns in the 2012 calendar year. We are looking for students with backgrounds in either developing and testing MEMS accelerometers and gyros or students interested in contributing to software development kits for our sensors. Internships can vary in length and depend on the availability of the student. You will participate with other members of our R&D teams to drive new technology development, implementation, innovation and cost effective next generation MEMS inertial sensing technologies for our partners and customers. The successful candidate WILL be currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree and have the following qualifications: GPA greater than 3.0; must have completed a minimum of sophomore level engineering/engineering course requirements in his/her respective field if pursuing a Bachelor's degree; have done laboratory work in a chemistry, physics or engineering lab that requires designing of experiments; reporting of experiments following classical formats (e.g. Objective, Background, Experimental Procedure, Analysis, Conclusion/Path forward); strong teamwork and communication skills.
