ASOSU MealBux Program
Students shouldn’t have to choose between textbooks and food. The ASOSU MealBux program offers students a way to pay for a few meals each week while on campus. After you submit an application and you’re approved, the money is deposited onto your student ID card and can be spent at any campus food vendor location. Typical award amount is $40 - $90. You may only apply for Mealbux during the first week of each term. Details

Newport, Reedsport chosen as finalists for $8 million wave energy facility
The Oregon coastal communities of Newport and Reedsport have been chosen as the two finalists for the possible location of the Pacific Marine Energy Center, a planned $8 million, “grid-connected” wave energy testing facility in the Pacific Northwest. Officials at the Northwest National Marine Renewable Energy Center (NNMREC) at Oregon State University said these locations offer advantages in cost, distance to shore and other factors over the two other sites that had also been considered, at Coos Bay and Camp Rilea near Warrenton. 2013 Cornell Cup USA presented by Intel
The Cornell Cup USA, presented by Intel, is a college-level embedded design competition created to empower student teams to become the inventors of the newest innovative applications of embedded technology. Students will also be given the opportunity to enhance their resumes and demonstrate their professional design skills, highly sought by today’s companies, as they transform their ideas into a well-planned, robust reality. The second annual competition will be held in May 2013 at Walt Disney World and will give teams the opportunity to win up to $10,000. Deadline to apply is October 17. Details

Join us for GE's Information Technology Leadership Program (ITLP) information session! Unique Opportunity for Undergrad/Grads to Work on Web App Project for EPA Natl Sustainable Design Competition
HORT4/599: Web App for Sustainable Residential Landscape & Community Based Environmental Management class is seeking to assemble an interdisciplinary team of innovative students to design a web app that will make sustainable environmental management individually relevant to homeowners by illuminating how landscape management choices can cost or save people money, and effect their community. The project has been selected by the EPA to compete in the P3 National Student Design for Sustainability Competition at the National Design for Sustainability Expo next Spring in WDC. We are specifically looking for two CS students. First, a student who has a strong skill set in user experience design and a good working knowledge of social media functionality. Second, and more importantly, a versatile student who can really take the lead on scoping out the computing infrastructure, and has an interest in or knowledge of Web 3.0 technologies. Details

Student employment opportunity at OSU Extended Campus. The purpose of this position is to provide analysis, development, and support of software‐based solutions to meet Extended Campus departmental needs. The primary focus will be SQL query development and maintenance, as well as assistance with integrating OSU's Student Information System with a newly acquired Customer Relationship Management web application. Intern Positions at Broadcom. We are focusing on the design of the high speed transceivers, with data rate from several Gbps to 100Gbps. We design both slicer based transceiver and ADC-based transceiver. We design circuits such as PLLs (including sigma-delta PLLs), analog/digital filter, CDR, data drivers, >10GS/s ADC and DACs. Intern Software Engineer, Micron Technology. The Data Center Solutions Group's Software team is looking for a motivated, enthusiastic software engineering intern willing to learn new skills in the systems software area. This internship will provide the candidate with exposure to both hardware and software technologies, cutting edge virtualization concepts, working experience with Linux, Windows and VMWare systems. During the internship, the candidate will work with senior software engineers on a variety of tasks related to the assigned project including developing new software in C++ and shell scripts, measuring and analyzing performance and testing and debugging software modules. Entry-level Electrical Engineer, Washington State Department of Transportation. The Bridge Preservation Office (BPO) is looking to fill an Electrical Engineer position to perform electrical inspections, troubleshooting, repairs and design on all State owned movable bridges and other special structures. The position will ultimately be responsible for providing a detailed comprehensive report on the findings of the inspection. The incumbent will provide engineering support for Regional maintenance staff. In addition, this position will manage the work of on-call consultants. Details

Design Engineer, Silicon Labs. Design support for analog/digital circuits, including layout, test, verification, evaluation and debugging of prototype ICs, and design support for mass production. Design and verify basic analog circuits and basic logic circuits to meet product requirements. Responsible for custom layout, including interaction with layout designers. Execute according to pre-determined design approaches and parameters. Demonstrate good judgment in solving routine issues, based on a basic understanding of industry practices and company policies and procedures. Assist in the evaluation of design results by laboratory measurements of ICs. Details

Firmware Engineer, Silicon Labs. Develops embedded firmware for mixed-signal ICs to control the operation of the chip and may include digital signal processing functions. Develops GUIs (graphical user interfaces) that operate on a PC to program ICs and evaluation platforms. Develop TCL/Perl/Python scripts to operate ICs in a laboratory environment. Develop embedded firmware in C to boot, configure and operate the mixed-signal chip. Implement firmware DSP algorithms to perform essential functions in a communication receiver or transmitter chip. Work with design engineers to understand chip operation and its various programmable modes. Work with Product Test Engineers to develop firmware-based test modes for production testing of the chip. Product Test Engineer, Silicon Labs. Supports the development of test strategies for ICs, including implementation of characterization, qualification and production test solutions. Improves yield and reduces costs while maintaining excellent product quality. Design and develop automated test equipment and bench test solutions (hardware and software) for product characterization, qualification and production of highly integrated ICs.
