Field of study has major impact on career earning potential
Earning a bachelor’s degree can have a big impact on how much people earn over the course of a career, but so can the field of study, according to a report Wednesday by the U.S. Census Bureau. Median yearly earnings for those with engineering degrees were the highest, at $91,611. Business Journal

The Memorial Union/Student Experience Center Fee Impact Committee is looking for students
The Fee Impact Committee does financial analysis and strategic planning to minimize the student fee impact for the Memorial Union. Discuss and experience what goes into creating a student fee at OSU: Financial Analysis, Strategic Planning, Discovering Streams of Revenue, Presenting to Student Incidental Fee Committee. Committee meetings are 1-2 hours once a week or every other week. Applications are due October 17, 2012. Details

The Fall Career Fair is right around the corner and University Events is looking for staff and student volunteers to help make it a success!
The Career Fair is a two day event held at the CH2M Hill Alumni Center including a University-wide fair on Wednesday, October 24, and an Engineering fair on Thursday, October 25. We currently have a number of shifts that need to be filled from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. for each day. Anyone that is interested in volunteering should email kelly.dicristina@oregonstate.edu and she can provide additional information regarding the timeslots that are open.

Mozilla Ignite is an open innovation challenge hosted by Mozilla and the National Science Foundation as part of the US Ignite initiative. What would you do with an Internet without limits? How can next-generation apps change the world? Enter into the Mozilla Ignite apps challenge and show us your best ideas in running code. 2013 Cornell Cup USA presented by Intel
The Cornell Cup USA, presented by Intel, is a college-level embedded design competition created to empower student teams to become the inventors of the newest innovative applications of embedded technology. Students will also be given the opportunity to enhance their resumes and demonstrate their professional design skills, highly sought by today’s companies, as they transform their ideas into a well-planned, robust reality. The second annual competition will be held in May 2013 at Walt Disney World and will give teams the opportunity to win up to $10,000. Deadline to apply is October 17. Details

Asian Pacific Community Fund - Verizon Scholarship Awards Program
The Asian Pacific Community Fund partners with Verizon to financially assist students in their pursuit of higher education as they face the challenge of significantly rising costs of obtaining a college degree. These awards will support those who excel academically, are leaders amongst their peers and are making a positive impact in their communities. The 2nd cycle of our scholarship program offers five $2,000 awards to 2nd year undergraduate college students who are attending a 4-year, accredited college/university in California, Oregon, or Washington, or who are residents of one of these states. Scholarships are open only to students majoring in math, sciences, engineering, or a related field. The deadline for the 2nd cycle is October 31, 2012. Details
