While down in lovely Corvallis, Oregon, for “Dad’s Weekend” last week, I had the opportunity to tour the Oregon State University engineering labs in search of a Tektronix presence. And indeed I found one. OSU is a strong engineering institution that has a long history of providing talent to Tektronix just 1-½ hours away. EDN

OSU Theatre kicks off new season with epic Greek tragedy
The Oregon State University Theatre will kick off its 2012-13 season with Sophocles’ epic tragedy, “Oedipus, The King.” Performances will take place Nov. 15-16 and Nov. 18. Increasing Diversity in Earth Sciences undergraduate research program
The Increasing Diversity in the Earth Sciences Program (IDES) is an Oregon-focused mentoring program providing students from diverse academic and personal backgrounds the opportunity to be involved in and explore the Earth Sciences, a field that is so broad it includes students from any major. Students with interests in engineering, law, social science, education, math and community can all find a home in the IDES program. IDES is a two-year program for Juniors and promising Sophomores, in which students are funded while attending summer training in basic Geographic Information Systems, Image Processing and developing projects of interest. Over the remainder of the summer and over the course of the 2-years, students work with mentors on their project/internship. All mentored projects and internships will include a stipend. Details
