Tuesday, October 24, 10 - 11 AM, CH2M HILL Alumni Center. Career Exploration Hour @ the Fall University-Wide Career Fair. Designed specifically to provide first-year and other exploring students opportunities to learn about careers and career paths. Over 100 employers from a variety of industries will be at the fair, ready to talk with and answer questions about their organizations and careers, as well as to share how students can prepare themselves for the world of work. The Career Exploration Hour will provide a unique opportunity for exploring students to talk with employers and learn about majors/careers without the pressure of having to compete with students who are seeking jobs and internships at the fair. Tuesday, October 24, 5:30 pm, MU Ballroom. 2006 EECS, IME & ME Senior Dinner. Meet potential employers, find out more about different career options, ask questions about the job market, network, get your resume out there, and enjoy a free dinner. Students MUST register by October 19 at 5 pm. To register, visit the reception desk in KEC 1148 (EECS Seniors) or in Dearborn 102 (IME and ME Seniors).

The Career Fairs are designed to support students in their career development and pursuit of career aspirations. The career fairs provide students with a unique opportunity to talk to recruiters from corporations and organizations from around the world who have experience in relevant fields of study. Career Fair enables students to explore career opportunities, obtain employer information, and locate summer jobs, internships, and full-time positions. Details.

IN THE NEWS

The Port of Umpqua and other Reedsport and Douglas County officials and state agencies have been working with wave energy companies and Oregon State University to develop a buoy park off of Gardiner. The abundance of waves is excellent, Oregon offers more financial incentives and, most importantly, there was significant momentum and public support for the project. The Oregonian.

Dartmouth College invites applications for the Cesar Chavez / Charles A. Eastman / Thurgood Marshall Dissertation Fellowships from US citizens who plan careers in college or university teaching. The goal of the Chavez / Eastman / Marshall fellowship program is to promote student and faculty diversity at Dartmouth, and throughout higher education, by supporting completion of the doctorate by underrepresented minority scholars (including African-American, Latina/o, and Native American scholars) and other graduate scholars with a demonstrated commitment and ability to advance educational diversity. Oregon State University's Office of Budget and Fiscal Planning, within the division of Finance and Administration, is recruiting for a student position of Systems Developer/Programmer. We are seeking an experienced student to be involved in a variety of system development tasks, from SQL Server databases to full-fledged interactive websites based on the .NET framework and ASP.NET technologies. Development experience in one or more of the following is required: Visual Basic .NET, SQL (preferred), HTML, XML, or Java. Knowledge of the Microsoft .NET Framework, Visual Studio .NET, MS SQL Server, and MS Access is highly desirable. Details.

HP Corvallis has several jobs open for college hire for undergrad and graduate students who are graduating this year in ChemE and in EE, and a few for ME and IE. Also, register for a possible interview with the Career Services http://oregonstate.edu/career to be held on Nov 1 on campus. Since the Nov 1 date is coming up soon, and the Career Center needs to schedule the time slots for applicants who have been pre-selected by HP, please act on this right away so we have a chance to do the pre-selection.
