Tuesday, October 24, 10 - 11 AM, CH2M HILL Alumni Center. Career Exploration Hour @ the Fall University-Wide Career Fair. Designed specifically to provide first-year and other exploring students opportunities to learn about careers and career paths. Over 100 employers from a variety of industries will be at the fair, ready to talk with and answer questions about their organizations and careers, as well as to share how students can prepare themselves for the world of work. The Career Exploration Hour will provide a unique opportunity for exploring students to talk with employers and learn about majors/careers without the pressure of having to compete with students who are seeking jobs and internships at the fair. Tuesday, October 24, 5:30 pm, MU Ballroom. 2006 EECS, IME & ME Senior Dinner. Meet potential employers, find out more about different career options, ask questions about the job market, network, get your resume out there, and enjoy a free dinner. Students MUST have registered by October 19 at 5 pm. To register, visit the reception desk in KEC 1148 (EECS Seniors) or in Dearborn 102 (IME and ME Seniors).

Wednesday, October 25, 2006 11:00 AM - 4:00 PM, CH2M HILL Alumni Center. Engineering Career Fair. The Career Fairs are designed to support students in their career development and pursuit of career aspirations. The career fairs provide students with a unique opportunity to talk to recruiters from corporations and organizations from around the world who have experience in relevant fields of study. Career Fair enables students to explore career opportunities, obtain employer information, and locate summer jobs, internships, and full-time positions. Details.

Hai Chiang, a doctoral candidate in the Oregon State University School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, has been awarded a two-year Intel fellowship from the Intel Foundation for the 2006-07 academic year. Corvallis Gazette-Times.

Computer Science student Joshua Zuniga is one of 18 2006-2007 Google Hispanic College Fund Winners. The scholarship provides $5,000 to a junior or senior who has demonstrated academic excellence in the field of computer science and computer engineering. Winners will also be invited to Google's Mountain View Campus in April 2007. Google press release.

The American Association of University Women (AAUW) is a national organization that promotes education and equity for all women and girls. Selected Professions Fellowships are awarded to women who intend to pursue a full-time course of study at accredited institutions during the fellowship year in one of the designated degree programs where women's participation traditionally has been low. Krell Institute Computational Science Graduate Fellowship (CSGF) is a program funded by the Department of Energy, the Office of Defense Programs, and the Office of Science. This program works to identify and provide support for some of the very best computational science graduate students in the nation. Details.

Oak Ridge Associated Universities (ORAU), Institute for Science and Education (ORISE). The National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL) Professional Internship Program provides opportunities for students to participate in energy-related research. Details.

Oak Ridge Associated Universities (ORAU), Institute for Science and Education (ORISE). The Savannah River Site Professional Internship Program provides opportunities for students to participate in energy-related and environmental research. Details.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security Undergraduate Scholarship and Fellowship Program provides an opportunity for students to participate in an educational program intended to ensure a diverse and highly talented science and technology human resource base to meet the mission, goals, and objectives of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Details.

The American Society of Naval Engineers (ASNE) sponsors a scholarship program to encourage college students to enter the field of naval engineering. The program also provides support to naval engineers seeking advanced education in the field. The programs of study that apply to the diverse field of naval engineering are naval architecture; marine, mechanical, civil, aeronautical, ocean, and electrical engineering; and the physical sciences. Silicon Labs will be interviewing Electrical and Electronics majors and Electrical & Computer Engineers, Bachelors degree. Design Engineer job opportunity in Portland, OR and Austin, TX. Design support for analog/digital circuits, including layout, test, verification, evaluation and debugging of prototype ICs, and design support for mass production. Details.

Lucent Technologies offers three internship opportunities. (1) College students who would like to work part-time or full-time year-round and who meet our hiring criteria can participate in the Lucent Internship Program. Interns receive project-focused assignments, which last 10 weeks and longer, and challenging objectives that are consistent with their career goals and current level of education. (2) Lucent's Summer Internship Program provides valuable work experience within a corporate environment to outstanding college students ranging from freshmen through the master's level, PhD levels, and college faculty members. (3) Lucent's Co-op is an educational program that integrates classroom studies with paid productive work experiences related to a student's academic and career goals. Details.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Asian American/Pacific Islander Native American/Alaskan Native Internship Program provides opportunities to participate in ongoing FAA research and related technologies. The program duration is for 10 weeks during the summer; 15 weeks during the semester. Details.

Hardware Systems Architect, Engineer, Marvell Semiconductor. This person will be responsible for development of optimized ASIC and FPGA solutions for consumer imaging products. This will include system and block level architecture, behavioral and RTL modeling, simulation, and verification. In addition, it will include hardware and software algorithm implementation/tradeoff analysis, investigation of new technologies, and direction setting of long term product development strategies.
