The Willamette Valley Section of the Society of Women Engineers is sponsoring a banquet to celebrate National Engineers Week. The theme for National Engineers Week 2007 is “Engineers Make a World of Difference.” For over 50 years, National Engineers Week has helped to promote awareness of the engineering profession and to encourage young people to consider a career in engineering. In celebration of this event, we would like to invite students from the College of Engineering to attend this banquet. The banquet will be attended by industry professionals from throughout the Willamette Valley.

We are pleased to announce that Dr. Carolyn Duran, Intel Corporation, will be our keynote speaker. The banquet will be held Monday, February 26, 2007 at 6:00 p.m. at the CH2M Hill Alumni Center on the Oregon State University Campus in Corvallis, Oregon. We hope that you can join us to celebrate the many contributions made by engineers to our society.

There are a limited number of sponsored tickets available for engineering students to attend the banquet. If you are interested in attending this banquet, please stop by the Undergraduate Engineering Office to sign up (151 Batcheller Hall). Denise Emery is handling student sign ups. Each year the National Federation of the Blind (NFB) gives a broad array of scholarships to recognize achievement by blind scholars. The NFB Computer Science Scholarship is for study in the computer science field. The scholarship is for $3,000. Details.

Cypress is seeking qualified students to work on our next generation of Programmable System on Chips (PSoCTM). This new family of devices will extend the current PSoC line which is used in a wide range of products including MP3 players, HD TVs, tennis shoes, and wireless devices. The PSOC family covers 8 bit, 32 bit, as well as wireless applications. Specific contributions will involve development of cycle accurate C++ models. Intel's Digital Home Group is looking for a validation engineering intern to work on the next generation of Set-top Box video chips. Our technology includes video decoders, audio DSPs, 2D/3D graphics, video display processing, and transport stream demultuplexors to name but a few. You will write creative test programs to "break our designs" -- ensuring that any functional failures are repaired before the customer sees them. We are currently looking for a Software Quality Assurance Intern to take a vital role in developing this new product. As a key member of our team, your responsibilities will include: Develop automated test suites for our application. Key areas of development will be functional, load, and GUI testing; Evaluate and select tools and technology to meet the requirements for delivering high quality products; Design and develop test suites (including functional, regression, compatibility, and scalability tests); Run the test suites; Report, track, and verify bugs. Micron needs a few good digital design engineers. Perform development and design specification for production of submicron NAND flash product. Write code in Hardware Design Language (Verilog) and perform synopsis synthesis simulation, logic synthesis, static timing analysis, gate level simulation, netlist preparation, hardware emulation, and test vector generation. NASA is looking for talented undergraduates to participate in our Undergraduate Student Research Program (USRP). USRP offers undergraduates across the United States mentored research experiences at participating NASA Centers and research support facilities. USRP APPLICATIONS <http://www.vsgc.odu.edu/app.htm> are now available for a 10-week summer and 15-week fall session in 2007. Students may apply for ONE or BOTH sessions to increase the chance of being selected to participate. However, students will only be able to participate in one session. Details.

NASA Exploration Internships will provide students Exploration Science Mission Directorate (ESMD) -relevant work experience in industry or at a NASA center. Test Engineer, Intel. The Consumer Electronics Group (CEG) is chartered to deliver cutting edge silicon tailored to the consumer electronics market. CEG, which is part of Digital Home Group, focuses on several key market segments, including set-top box, media center and digital television. The successful board and system manufacturing test engineer candidate will join the Board Engineering Team (BET) within CEG. He/She will be part of a team that is developing Intel based boards and systems for all of the key markets addressed by CEG.
