Wednesday, February 21, Morning Session 9-12, Afternoon Session 1-4, Rogers Hall, Room 336. National Instruments LabVIEW Hands-On Campus Workshop. Gain hands-on experience in modeling, designing, and building powerful, custom measurement and control applications with intuitive graphical programming. In this FREE, three-hour session, discover the new, powerful features of LabVIEW and: Receive three hours of hands-on technical training from a senior engineer on industry-standard hardware. Funding Opportunity for Senior Design Projects: Nesbitt Large Scale Energy Systems Design Grants. Gregory and Jennylee Nesbitt have established a grant program for student teams conducting Large Scale Energy Systems design projects and planning to present their design results at the OSU Engineering Expo to be held on May 11, 2007. Eight to ten grants will be awarded ranging from $500 to $750. These grants are to be used towards the expense of research and design materials, component fabrication, and display materials. Only one grant can be awarded per team and collaboration between engineering disciplines is considered favorably in the evaluation process.

To apply for a grant send the following information to Ms. Teresa Culver.

  1. Title of Project
  2. Student names and respective departments
  3. Summary of the design concept and its potential to impact large scale energy production or savings. (~500 words)
  4. Proposed Budget

The deadline for application is February 14, 2007. Notification of awards and project reimbursement requirements will be issued March 1, 2007.

John F. Wager (Professor, School of Electrical Engineering & Computer Science) will present the OSU 2006 Sigma Xi Researcher of the Year lecture on the topic of "Transparent electronics" on Wednesday, February 21, 2007 at 3:00 PM in the Kelley Engineering Building, Rm 1001. The award recognizes Professor Wager's contributions to the development of transparent electronics, thin-film electroluminescent displays and compound semiconductor transistors. The OSU chapter of Sigma Xi currently includes about 175 active members, and is actively recruiting new student and faculty members. The Researcher of the Year Award is given annually to a member of the OSU research community that has contributed significantly to the advancement of his/her field of study.

Exciting summer mathematics research program for undergraduates at Kansas State University. The NSF sponsored program "Brainstorming and Barnstorming" will run over the summer June 4 - July 27, 2007 and will include a problem solving component, an applied math component on the mathematics of flight, and a pure math component. Some flight instruction will be included! Undergraduates who are US citizens or permanent residents are eligible to apply. Facilities Engineering Intern, Micron. As an intern in the Facilities you will assist Electrical and Control Engineers for the Facilities Department. Duties will include electrical and control design, drawing development in AutoCAD, as-building systems, and specifying components. This position focuses more on the industrial support systems within Micron. The project may change during the course of the internship. General knowledge of power, instrument and control systems. Experience with AutoCAD or similar drawing package is a plus. Details.
