Prof. Shiwoo Lee is hosting a half-day workshop for COMSOL on campus, on May 4, 2007. COMSOL Multiphysics is a finite element software package used to model applications in all fields of engineering and science. Modules designed specifically for CAD Import, Chemical Engineering, Earth Science, Electromagnetics, Heat Transfer, MEMS, and Structural Mechanics are available. Optionally integrated with matlab®, it is used to model coupled systems of nonlinear Partial Differential Equations. COMSOL Multiphysics is equation-based, so you can also define and couple your own PDEs freely and arbitrarily. Details.

FLIR Systems has a "test bed" project that needs someone with a systems programming or "information technology" type focus. The project is the development of an algorithm test bed computer for rapid prototyping of advanced image processing algorithms. Project requires integration of special purpose DSP and FPGA boards, including interface and development software into a Wintel machine. Experience integrating custom boards into Windows/Intel environment is crucial skill for this project. C++ programming experience, including development of graphical user interfaces in Windows operating system. Familiarity with standard video formats, including CameraLink, IIDC 1394b, and SMPTE 292M is a plus. Details.

FLIR Systems has an "image processing" project that could use a student interested in windows application programming or possibly an EE with strong programming skills whose interest lies in signal processing. Projects is part of work with NASA to develop real-time runway obstacle detection. This involves implementing video analysis and object detection algorithms in C++. C++ programming experience for real-time applications is a necessary qualification. Working with avi video and developing graphical user interfaces is also important. Familiarity with signal processing or image processing algorithms is an asset. Details.

College of Business Computing Resource Center is seeking a Student Support Technician 1. The Level 1 Student Support Technician’s primary task is to provide Tier 1 hand’s on end-user support to the College of Business students, faculty, and staff.
