Laura Beckwith, a new computer science Ph.D. from Oregon State University, and her adviser, Margaret Burnett, specialize in studying the way people use computers to solve everyday problems -- like adding formulas to spreadsheets, animation to Web sites and styles to word processing documents. SCHOLARSHIPS/FELLOWSHIPS

The Ford Foundation Diversity Fellowships seek to increase the diversity of the nation’s college and university faculties by increasing their ethnic and racial diversity, to maximize the educational benefits of diversity, and to increase the number of professors who can and will use diversity as a resource for enriching the education of all students. To facilitate this goal the Fellowship grants awards at the Predoctoral, Dissertation and, Postdoctoral levels to students who demonstrate excellence, a commitment to diversity and a desire to enter the professoriate. CYPRESS IS HIRING! Software Engineer. Will be responsible for developing, improving and supporting various S/W products in CCD (Consumer and Computation Division). Immediate responsibilities include developing next generation PSoC software. Details

OSU College of Business Computing Resource Center is seeking a Student Support Technician 1. The Level 1 Student Support Technician’s primary task is to provide Tier 1 hand’s on end-user support to the College of Business students, faculty, and staff. Responsibilities include: Responding to phone, email, and in-person requests for technical help; Documenting support requests; Resetting COB account passwords; Troubleshooting and resolving basic hardware and software problems, working directly with vendors and customers, as necessary. WANTED: Website Designer. We need someone to construct a website similar to Computer Literacy Systems (cls1.com). We do not need a shopping cart, but do need the flexibility to add, subtract, move and copy text and illustrations frequently. We would like someone that has a working knowledge of both html and PHP script. Details

Learning Strategist. The Academic Success Center and Academics for Student Athletes 102 Waldo Hall need to fill academic coaching positions for the 2007-2008 academic year. These Learning Strategists will provide intensive academic coaching for at-risk students. The Learning Strategists will provide assistance with time management and organization, reading and note taking and, in addition, will work intensively with one or two students, three to four times per week. They will assist students in applying learning strategies directly to their reading and assignments. Details
