Opti-MS Corporation is a start-up company with investors the Salem/Albany area and we just moved to Salem from Portland. We are currently working on a miniature time-of-flight mass spectrometer for NASA and we also have a contract with a California company to develop an instrument for a field deployable environmental analysis application. We are starting a project to improve part of the electronics used in our instrument. We need to hire a part-time employee that has some electronics assembly/testing experience or an interest and the ability to learn quickly. Position involves close interaction with a consulting electrical engineer and the CTO. An exceptional EE or physics junior or senior could meet our needs. Details

Hardware Engineer, I, Synopsys. Entry to junior level position that will assist senior engineer in designing, integrating, developing and testing example designs utilizing Synopsys digital and analog IP cores, including SATA, PCIe and Ethernet. Work at the RTL level to integrate the cores and add supporting functionality and logic as required. Run design through FPGA tool flow and test in lab on FPGA prototyping boards. Work closely with IP software and HW engineers to determine optimal test configurations of the IP cores and to create demonstrations of the IP cores in operation. Attend compliance workshops, as required, to obtain compliance certification for the various IP cores and derivatives. Expected to identify classical solutions to HW/SW problems with moderate guidance. Details

CAE, I, Synopsys. Synopsys is looking for an individual to work in an established high speed mix signal serdes team. The group provides hard IP PHYs for ASICs. The IP is validated in test chips. Products include PCI express, SATA, XAUI and Serial Rapid I/O. The job will be focused on providing technical support to customers however there will be some product and test engineering duties. This job offers exposure to a variety of engineering duties and is ideal for a candidate who wants to gain experience in several different engineering disciplines. Details

Intel Corp, Software Engineering Intern. In this position you will be part of a small and quick-paced team developing and supporting a custom automation framework. The framework follows a distributed model and features parallel execution, debugging, resource management, and other advanced features. It is currently used to test WiFi, WiMAX, high-end graphics products, and more. Your responsibilities will include: Working with customers to investigate and fix issues designing, implementing, testing, and supporting new functionality. Details

Test pre-production Networking Hardware and Software; Building complex testing environments; Setup Hardware and install software; Keep up with emerging technologies; Continue to learn about networking technologies and share knowledge; Potentially develop test plans. Linux Software Engineer, HP. Debug complex kernel, driver, and software application issues in a Linux environment. Work with developers to develop solutions to these issues. Use gdb, kgdb, or kdb, in-circuit emulators and other diagnostic tools to debug, troubleshoot, and test complex windows PC environments. Performs complex hardware/software engineering work under minimal direction. Analyzes, develops and recommends design approaches. Resolves complicated issues and works on critical customer engineering problems and/or projects. Details
