Football video analysis without coaches
High school, college and professional football coaches usually spend upwards of 100 hours a week during the season on studying and game planning. Computer scientists are now trying to figure out whether or not artificial intelligence is capable of not only learning the game of football, but also evaluating and perhaps even learning to coach it. Smithsonian Institution, Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) Internships. Opportunities are provided for over 900 interns yearly at its museums, offices, and research facilities. The Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) provides the Smithsonian's central computing and telecommunications services; provides leadership in information technology throughout the Institution in support of systems planning and development, communications, and computer-related training; and provides policy and guidance to ensure the integrity and security of Institutional automated data. At the OCIO, internships are available in Information Technology Services, Infrastructure Technologies, and System Engineering. Details

National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Langley Aerospace Research Summer Scholars (LARSS) Program. The LARSS program is a 10-week summer internship at NASA Langley Research Center (LaRC) that benefits rising undergraduate juniors and seniors, and graduate students who are pursuing degrees in aeronautical engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, materials science, computer science, atmospheric science, astrophysics, physics, chemistry, or selected aerospace disciplines of interest to LaRC. Details

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has a 12-week Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF) program providing hands-on research experience in any one of its several measurement and standards laboratories. The SURF Program is anticipated to run between May through August; adjustments may be made to accommodate specific academic schedules (e.g., a limited number of 9-week slots). Details
