ANNOUNCEMENTS
---------------------------------------------------

Dear OSU Engineering/EECS Students,

In order to help improve the environment for academic success throughout the College of Engineering, we request your participation in a short survey designed to provide feedback on computer labs and computer services as provided by the Engineering College.

Please take a few minutes to answer the questions at the following address:
http://engr.oregonstate.edu/computing/itsurvey.php

Thank you for your time helping to make COE better!

Secure your place in EECS history: include your portrait in the Class of 2009 composite photo. EECS photos of the year's graduates has been a tradition for decades. If you haven't yet seen it, the 4th floor hall in the Kelley Engineering Center is lined with class pictures dating back to the 1940s and you can be part of this rich history. Contact Ball Studio (753-5721) by the end of April to schedule an appointment to have your picture taken. Sitting fee: $10; your place in history: priceless.

Graduation is coming up! Every year the student chapters of the Association for Computing Machinery and Eta Kappa Nu organize a School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Graduation. This event is shorter and more personal than the University-wide graduation and is tailored to the faculty and students of our school. All students who have graduated since summer 2008 and anticipate graduating through fall 2009 are welcome to participate. Details

"About 50 percent of the utilities' work force will be reaching retirement age in the next five years," according to Annette von Jouanne, professor of power electronics/energy systems at Oregon State University's School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. von Jouanne said she has been seeing a steady increase lately in the number of students showing an interest in energy-related professions. Robotics team to defend title
Last year the Oregon State University Robotics Club had a stellar debut at the Mars Society’s University Rover Challenge. The team’s 2008 Mars rover won first place, earning glory and national recognition. This year’s competition is still a month away, but OSU took its first step toward defending the title Saturday at Adair County Park, as the club showed off its 2009 creation. Corvallis Gazette-Times
