Senator sees economic power in wave energy
“Wave energy has serious potential to become a huge clean energy source for the Oregon coast, and help boost the local economy,” said U.S. Sen. Jeff Merkley, D-Ore. “But it has to be developed in partnership with local communities, and in a manner that is in harmony with the fishing industry and other coastal ecosystems.” Newport News-Times

OPPORTUNITIES
---------------------------------------------------

What do we call a high performance computational cluster combined with six undergraduates, late nights of work, a load of junk food snacks, a really crazy time limit and 26 AMPS of power? – We call it The SC09 Student Cluster Competition. Are you brave enough to take on a challenge such as this? This competition is a great chance for students to work with a vendor and get some real experience with computing clusters. This year's competition is in Portland Oregon, Nov 16-18, 2009. The team results of the HPCC portion of the competition will be announced when the TOP500 committee announces the new TOP500 list. For more info, go to http://sc09.supercomputing.org/index.php?pg=clusterguidelines.html.
