Kshitij Judah

PhD Student
Computer Science

B.Tech Computer Science and Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur, 2002.

I started my Ph.D in Fall 2005 with Intelligent Systems Group and my advisor is Prof. Alan Fern. My main research interest is in Machine Learning. I am also interested in other related areas like Data Mining, Computer Vision, Human-Computer Interaction and Robotics. As part of DARPA's Bootstrap Learning project, I am currently working with Prof. Alan Fern and Prof. Tom Dietterich on developing Reinforcement Learning algorithms that can leverage human advice.

In past, I have also collaborated with Prof. Prasad Tadepalli and Sriraam Natarajan on developing decision-theoretic models for intelligent assistance, and with Prof. Prasad Tadepalli and Prof. Tom Dietterich on DARPA funded CALO project.

Prior to starting my PhD; I was a member of a research team at Read-Ink Technologies, a startup located in Indian high-tech city Bangalore, involved in development of software (for tablet PC's, PDA's, mobiles etc.) for writer independent unconstrained online handwriting recognition. As senior software engineer, I developed algorithms for doing analysis and recognition of unconstrained handwriting. Read-Ink Technologies is an initiative by Prof. T.O.Binford from Stanford University, CA, USA and his wife Mrs. Ione Binford from Hewlett-Packard.
