October is mild and pleasant with day temperatures in the upper 60's
to low 70's F.
Getting
to Philadelphia
The city has
a major international airport 6.5 miles away from the city center. Easy
access is provided through I-76 and SR-291. SEPTA (the Southeastern
Pennsylvania Transportation Authority) has an airport rail line which
runs daily on the half hour between the airport and the city. The fare
is $5. Taxis are available. The fare between the airport and the Sheraton
Hotel as about $20.
Attendees
arriving at the New York City airports can reach Philadelphia by train.
Amtrak trains stop at the 30th Street station (on 30th and Market Streets).
The Sheraton Hotel is only seven blocks away from the station. Attendees
arriving by car can use I-76 or I-95 to I-676. Use the 30th Street exit,
follow ramp around the 30th Street Station and turn right into Market
street going west.
Attendees
using the Pennsylvania turnpike (I-276) may take I-476 to get to I-76.
There is no direct exit from the Turnpike to I-95. Use Turnpike exit
29 to route 13 south to route 413 to I-95.

Transportation
SEPTA operates
buses, streetcars and subways. Fare is $1.60 (transfer $0.40) exact
change required. A SEPTA daypass for $5 allows unlimited rides within
the city and a one-way ride to the airport.
