From 1998 to 1999, Dr. Hamdaoui worked as a quality control and planning engineer on a power generation plant project under the supervision of PIRECO/FIAT Avio. He was an intern at Telcordia Technologies during the summer of 2004. In September of 2005, he joined the Real-Time Computing Research Lab at the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor as a postdoctoral researcher. Since September of 2007, Dr. Hamdaoui joined the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Oregon State University as an assistant professor.

Dr. Hamdaoui's research interests span various topics in the areas of computer networks, information systems, and wireless data communications. He is currently focusing on, and addressing problems in, the areas of: (1) sensor networks: data aggregation, video, energy-aware routing; (2) distributed file sharing and multimedia networking: network coding, quality-of-service, mesh networking; (3) cognitive wireless networking: adaptive and dynamic bandwidth sharing, opportunistic MAC protocols, multi-user coexistence and coordination; and (4) cross-layer (PHY, MAC, and Network) aware protocols and techniques: network coding, interference suppression, MIMO, energy-efficiency. Dr. Hamdaoui is a member of IEEE, IEEE Computer Society, and IEEE Communications Society. He also serves on the Editorial Board of Journal of Computer Systems, Networks, and Communications.
