Open Source Survey and Diary Study
The in-depth online survey is aimed at open source developers of varying degrees of experience. Its main goal is to collect data about the demographics of open source contributors and what they feel are the obstacles in working effectively on their projects. The diary study tracks new contributors to projects over a period of time to determine what tasks they spend the most time on and what their related thoughts are. This should lead to a better understanding of people's experiences when joining new projects and where effort can be most effectively spent to improve retention rates and the experience.
