Biography
Çetin Kaya Koç is a Full Professor of Electrical and Computer
Engineering at Oregon State University, where he joined in 1992. Koç is the founder and director of the Information Security Laboratory
at Oregon State University. He received the OSU College of Engineering
Research Award for Outstanding and Sustained Research Leadership in
2001.
He received his Ph.D. (1988) and M.S. (1985) degrees in Electrical and
Computer Engineering from University of California at Santa Barbara,
and his MS (1982) and B.S. (1980, summa cum laude) degrees in Electrical
Engineering from Istanbul Technical University. Between 1988 and 1992,
he was on the faculty of the University of Houston.
Koç's research interests are in security, cryptography,
computer arithmetic, finite fields, and mobile computing. He was the
founder and program chair of the Workshop on Cryptographic Hardware
and Embedded Systems (CHES). A special issue (April 2003) of the IEEE
Transactions on Computers is devoted to cryptographic hardware and embedded
software development, of which Koç is the Guest Editor.
Koç is also in the editorial board of the new journal IEEE
Transactions on Mobile Computing.
Koç is also a member of the professional societies IEEE,
IEEE Computer Society, IEEE Information Theory Society, and International
Association for Cryptologic Research.
