These include industry-driven experiential learning activities for our undergraduates, and groundbreaking online education programs that have helped propel Oregon State to a national leadership position in distance learning. The school has also produced world-changing research in areas that include artificial intelligence, transparent electronics, mixed-signal integrated circuits, and human-computer interaction. Our faculty are among the core members that comprise the College of Engineering’s interdisciplinary robotics program, which is widely recognized as one of the best in the country.

Through these and other contributions, our faculty, students, and alumni are shaping the high technology landscape in the Pacific Northwest and well beyond. Equally important, our underlying culture of innovation and interdisciplinary approach to program development allow us to provide a comprehensive learning experience to our students — whether on campus or online. This helps us achieve our most important goal, which is to continually improve student access and ensure that our graduates achieve their professional and academic goals.

As we look forward, expanding the breadth and depth of external partnerships will play a key role as we pursue new ideas with big potential. These include initiatives that will impact the security and resiliency of cyber infrastructure, improve the reliability of communications networks, boost health outcomes, promote sustainable energy, and increase the accessibility of technical degrees to underserved populations.

We have an exciting future, and I invite you to be part of our collaborative community, whether you are a prospective student, researcher, or industry partner.
