Wind Integration Research, Demonstration and ExplorationThe goal of the proposal is to improve wind energy integration and control through more effective coordination of energy storage technologies using advanced power electronic converters. The WESRF test beds will be loaded with representative generators used in the wind industry, fed with actual wind data, producing variable outputs for the system. Advanced power electronics converters and controls will be developed to more effectively use developing energy storage technologies to smooth out the variable nature of wind generation sources, making them appear more similar to traditional generation sources such as hydro.
