Oregon State University Robotics Club is hosting another two days of FIRST Tech Challenge Qualifying Tournaments. Amazing volunteers like you made our previous competitions a success and we need your help again this year to pull off such a fantastic event. FIRST Tech Challenge is a great program for middle-school and high-school students to provide them with hands-on experiences in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math prior to college. We need all sorts of volunteers to run this competition including: information table attendants, robot inspectors, competition referees, and robot judges. Marine Energy Forum
The Northwest National Marine Renewable Energy Center (NNMREC) and Oregon State University invite you to attend a weekly Marine Energy Forum on the OSU campus. The Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) Site at Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) is inviting applications for summer 2017. In our program, students will experience research and other career-enhancing activities in an interdisciplinary environment with special focus on Computational Sensing. Summer Research Experience for Undergraduates at Northwestern University
The Materials Research Science and Engineering Center (MRSEC) at Northwestern University offers a 9-week, paid summer research experience for undergraduates. The students are paired up with some of the leading research professors in science and engineering fields. Research areas include ceramics, polymers, nanocomposites, photonics, nanoparticles, molecular electronics and biomaterials. While there are many REU programs, the NU-MRSEC stands out in offering students an interdisciplinary research experience. NSF Nanosystems Engineering Research Center for Advance Self-Powered Systems of Intergrated Sensors and Technologies (ASSIST) - North Carolina State University
The summer REU program offers research opportunities for domestic undergraduates from institutions outside of the ASSIST center. The program is open to any student who is majoring in a science or engineering-related field. REU students will be immersed in a 10-week intensive research experience at one of ASSIST’s partner institutions where they will experience the various aspects of university research. Students will be partnered with a faculty mentor based on their interests, they will conduct a research project, and they will present their work at a student symposium at the end of the summer. Interdisciplinary Micro/Nano-manufacturing Program Addressing Challenges Today (IMPACT) - University of Louisville
The goal of IMPACT is to recruit and train next-generation students into the interdisciplinary field of advanced micro/nano-manufacturing through exciting hands-on research projects which demonstrate how this remarkable miniaturization technology can be used to create new devices and systems capable of "impacting" the grand challenges of today in energy, healthcare, advanced manufacturing, security and the environment. Although the field of micro/nanotechnology has been around for several decades, its commercial successes have been primarily limited to the fields of semiconductors and microelectronics. Only recently have researchers begun to expand the application areas of this attractive manufacturing technology from the 2.5D field of semiconductors to the true 3D world of MEMS, microfluidics, sensors and other non-semiconductor disciplines. The summer Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) at the University of Tennessee's Engineering Research Center, CURENT, provides an opportunity for students to perform electrical engineering or computer science research with CURENT's award-winning faculty and graduate students. QESST Engineering Research Center - Arizona State University
The QESST Engineering Research Center offers undergraduates the opportunity to participate in solar energy research. Bridge the gap between the typical “research” devices and commercial solar cells, allowing fabrication and analysis of technologies on commercial-size devices and commercial equipment. Students must be enrolled in an accredited college or university with at least one year completed by June and at least one more semester before graduation after the summer. Solid-State Devices for Electronics, Photonics, and Magnetics Technology - Clemson University
The SURE program will provide students the opportunity to pursue ten weeks of directed research in the areas of electronic, photonic, and magnetic devices, including material and device design, processing, characterization, and modeling. Faculty members on the REU team currently conduct independent, interdisciplinary, and industry-coordinated studies ranging from fundamental materials and physics to functional devices, circuits, and systems. This has been facilitated by linking physics and materials processing programs to integrated multifunctional devices and circuits at the micro and nanometer scale. Innovative Engineering Using Renewable Resources - University of Alabama
This REU Site at The University of Alabama involves research projects on renewable resources, with a particular focus on bamboo. All student research projects will involve bamboo. This theme was chosen because of the interest and activities centered around bamboo at UA and in Alabama over the past few years. A wide spectrum of project topics will allow undergraduate students from multiple engineering disciplines to work together on problems with broad societal impact. While the project topics will engage students in multiple disciplines, the theme is focused and allows students to work collectively on exciting and relevant problems. Summer Engineering Research Experiences in Transportation Electrification - University of Maryland
The University of Maryland’s Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering, with support from the National Science Foundation is offering exciting research opportunities for undergraduate students in the broad area of electrical engineering. The Transportation Electrification program combines cutting-edge, team-based research with technical and educational seminars. Students are supervised jointly by faculty members and graduate students. Insight Data Engineering Fellows Program is an intensive, seven week professional training fellowship.
