Students abuzz over E-cars

The display was part of an electric vehicle expo at Oregon State University and featured vehicles from both private owners and local car dealerships. The event was organized by OSU instructor Hai-Yue Han, who is teaching a class about electric and hybrid vehicles this term. “I wanted my students to have a hands-on experience, so they could better understand the engineering that goes into these vehicles,” Han said. OSU’s Engineering Expo to showcase student projects

The 13th annual Engineering Expo, featuring student projects that range from across all engineering disciplines, will be held this Friday, May 18, at the College of Engineering at Oregon State University. “The Engineering Expo showcases our emphasis on hands-on experience,” said Scott Ashford, interim dean of the College of Engineering. “The senior design project is just one of the many examples of how the OSU engineering education prepares our graduates to make a seamless transition into their careers. ECE masters candidate Sean Brosig was awarded one of 10 Hydro Research Foundation Fellowships nationwide, to research a methodology to reduce the strain on hydro turbines using life extending control of multiple energy storage systems. More

Computer science junior Hannah Adams was recently awarded the Google Anita Borg Award, a prestigious scholarship that supports women in technology. An active member in the College of Engineering as an ambassador, peer adviser, and mentor to 14 women in engineering, Adams is the third OSU woman in computer science to win the award.
